After years of enjoying this beautiful part of the Texas Hill Country along the Guadalupe River, we had the opportunity to purchase a little slice of this Texas heaven! Whether it's a couple's getaway, family vacation, girl's weekend or guy's trip, we are thrilled to share our little piece of paradise with you. If you're into fishing, hiking, tubing, kayaking, paddleboarding, nature watching, enjoying live music or just relaxing on a magical river engulfed by ancient cypress trees, we have everything you need to make your vacation a fun and enjoyable stay.
I'm sure you're wondering why this little cabin that sits on a riverbank is named Misty Mountain. Well, when we first walked onto the property it was a warm summer morning. There was a vast difference between the warm air and cold, crisp river that created an awe-inspiring mist crawling along the water. As we stood along the bank soaking in this surreal moment, listening to the birds and wind dance through the giant cypress trees, the Led Zepplin song "Misty Mountain Hop" entered our minds, and the name was born.
"So I'm packing my bags
for the Misty Mountains
Where the spirits go now,
over the hills where the spirits fly"
Our cabin was one of many stone houses built along the Guadalupe River in 1956 to accommodate the workers associated with the construction of the Canyon Lake Dam, which was completed in 1964. Through the years, the families who have owned this property have taken great care in keeping much of the integrity of its authentic charm. The fireplace is original, as well as the stonework throughout. The cast iron kettle in the fireplace was once used to cook and heat water, and the master bedroom and living area was once used as a sleeping porch. Outside along the stone wall, you will find an antique outdoor fire pit that was once used as the original BBQ grill. There is so much beautiful history surrounding our cozy little home and we hope you enjoy it as well.
Misty Mountain is a two-bedroom cabin that accommodates two to four to people. It is perfect for couples, families* or friends to get away and enjoy the outdoors. Inside you'll feel the warmth and coziness the moment you walk in. The open floor plan boasts windows across the front and back to bring in beautiful bright natural light and exquisite views. Comfortable furnishings allow you to rest as you watch TV or read a book next to the fireplace. Our recently updated and fully equipped kitchen is perfect for any meal you want to prepare as well. The cabin sleeps four people comfortably with two queen-sized beds and two single inflatable mattresses, with extra pillows, sheets and blankets.
Inside you will find two bedrooms, one bathroom, living area, dining area and kitchen. The bathroom offers a walk-in shower and a full-sized washer and dryer in master bedroom closet. The house and backyard living space is fully wired with speakers and a stereo system you can connect via Bluetooth to play your favorite tunes.
Outside we offer a large back living space with stairs that lead down to multiple seating levels and direct access to the river. The patio and deck include a large dining table that seats four, a propane fire pit, a propane grill, chiminea, as well as multiple places to sit and enjoy your coffee in the morning or cocktails at night.
The cabin also provides lots of fun with four kayaks, fours paddleboards, corn hole, dart board, fishing gear and more!
*Please note: Due to steep stairs in the backyard leading to the riverbank and uneven terrain throughout the property, this home is not suitable for children under 5. We also feel that the numerous pictures showing the property should be considered by all ages of our renters before booking.
